How does Placemat decide what to buy?
Placemat’s proprietary buying engine was built and proven on nearly four years of multi-store retail data: around two million units sold across 6,000 products. Every morning it models true demand for each product at each store, including the sales you lost to empty shelves. It then weighs stock on hand and on order, delivery times, case sizes, shelf life, your budget, supplier and partner terms, and early signals on new products. Before any of it reaches you, it’s tested against what actually sold, and every suggestion comes with its reasoning in plain words.
Does Placemat replace my POS?
No. It sits on top of your POS and reads your sales and stock. Your POS keeps running the store; Placemat handles the buying.
What types of retailers does Placemat support?
We’re launching with cannabis retailers in BC, followed by BC liquor stores and then convenience stores across Canada.

Will it change anything in my POS?
No. Placemat only reads from your POS. It never changes your orders, stock, prices or transfers there.
Does it buy without me?
No. Placemat builds the order and fills your supplier cart, but nothing is purchased until you check out or tap Send.
Can I change what it suggests?
Always. Change a quantity, skip a product or add anything new. Your changes win, and Placemat learns from them.
Will it stay within my budget?
Yes. Set one number and Placemat spends it where it matters most. If your own changes take a store over, it shows exactly what to trim.
